Aims and Objectives
--- For post graduate teaching and research in Socialogy.
--- The objective of the course is to provide educational facilities to the urban as well as rural areas

Duration
--- This is a regular course
--- The duration of the course shall be 18 months
--- The first two terms are allotted for the teaching of the two theory papers, writing of two term papers and presentation of the seminars based on these term papers
--- The remaining term is allotted for completion of the dissertation
--- Additional extension for a period of one year for the completion of dissertation may be granted on the recommendation of the guide, merit of the case and payment of prescribed fees

Admission Procedure
--- Admission is open during every academic year in the months of June/July
--- The candidate should appear for the interview
--- The selection of the candidate will depend upon his/her performance in the interview
Syllabus
Group A Two Theory Papers:
Methods of Social Research
Theoretical perspective and debates in contemporary sociology
Group B Term Papers and Seminars
Group C Dissertation and Viva-Voce

Note:-  
--- Medium of instruction will be English.
--- However, a student will be allowed to write term papers, written examination and dissertation in English or Marathi.
--- The seminar presentation and Viva-voce may also be given in either English or Marathi.

--- Fees are payable by demand draft of any Nationalised Bank, payable at Pune in favour of ‘The Registrar’, Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, Pune.

Examination Schedule

--- Annually in the month of May every year. (For theory papers)
--- The student should submit two term papers and two seminars
--- The student should submit dissertation
Scholarship / Fellowship The scholarship is given through social welfare department of Maharashtra Government for SC/ST students / Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship, UGC New Delhi.
