Aims & Objectives :

• To create a platform of awareness pertaining to research in the prospective research scholars.
• To acquire and apply the research knowledge into the real world of business/ management.
• To enhance the horizon of not only of the individual researcher but also of the organization / institution.
The M. Phil Degree shall have the status of an intermediate Degree between the first
Post-Graduate Degree and the Doctorate Degree. It will have both research and course
components and will give the student adequate background for advanced research.
For admission to M. Phil. programme applicants fulfilling the following criteria shall be treated eligible.

i. Persons having passed P.G. degree examination with at least 55% of marks or grade
equivalent thereof awarded by the recognized University, relaxable to 50% for
reservation category and OBC.

ii. This is also applicable to foreign students who have obtained the Master’s degree from
any recognized Indian University.

iii. Students from out of Maharashtra will have to pay additional Rs. 1000/- towards eligibility
Course Pattern:
The duration of this course shall be 12 months and thereon submission of dissertation
within the period of 6 months. If an M. Phil student is unable to complete his dissertation
within this period, he will be allowed to do so within an additional period of one year.
Medium of instruction will be English.
Admission Procedure
A candidate has to appear for Entrance Exam which will be conducted at Vidyapeeth Bhavan, Mukundnagar, Pune.

Structure of M.Phil Entrance Examination

Written test - 100 marks
Interview - 50 marks

The Entrance (Written) Examination shall have the following four components:

a) Research Methodology (Weightage 40%)
b) Knowledge of the respective subject (for ex. General Management) (Weightage 30%)
c) Functional English Language (Weightage 15%)
d) Functional knowledge of Computers (Weightage 15%)

• The nature of the Examination shall be MCQ / Descriptive type.
• The Passing criterion for Entrance Exam is 50%.
• Duration of the paper – 3 hours
Programme Contents

The M. Phil. course consists of the following:

1) Group A - Two Theory Papers

Paper I - Social Work Research & Ideology - 100 Marks
Paper II - Research Methodology - 100 Marks

2) Group B - Term Papers and Seminars

Assignments - 30 Marks
Seminars - 30 Marks

3) Group C - Dissertation and Viva- Voce

Students are required to undertake their research project in consultation with their research guide.

Three copies of the dissertation are to be submitted to the Management Department through the research guide at the end of the IInd term. After the dissertation is evaluated the student will be required to appear for a viva-voce test based on the dissertation.
