Introduction
            We,TMV’s Department of Education are committed to create professionally competent teachers to perform their roles effectively as per the needs of the society. We also aim to upgrade the standard of Teacher Education and to enhance the professional and social status of teachers and develop amongst them a sense of commitment towards the educational needs of the society.
            In the academic year 2005-06 Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth has launched ‘Bachelor of Education’ one-year regular degree course through English medium, which was the long cherished dream of Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth and closely associated with educational thoughts of Lokmanya.
            Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth received recognition from NCTE in 2005, for the implementation of B.Ed. course for the intake of 100 students. The list of recognized institutions is displayed on NCTE’s Website : WWW. ncte-in.org

Research Activities
1. Completed UGC sanctioned Minor Research project on "A study about implementation of Environmental Education and it's awareness with special reference to the 9th standard students from secondary schools in pune city , Maharashtra ".

2. Conducted a Seminar Cum Workshop on 'Multiple Intelligence' on 27th and 28th September 2014.

3. Conducted 'Debate competition' on the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Birth Anniversary on 3rd November 2014.

Department Achievement
The academic year 2013-14 has proved to be academically and professionally fulfill for the Department of Education.
• Mrs. Sharvary Govande and Mrs. Trupti Barve, presently working as Assistant Professors in the Department successfully passed the CTET held in July 2013.
• Mrs. Trupti Barve successfully cleared the NET exam for Lecturership held in June 2013.
• Mrs. Madhuri Gunjal – Assistant Professor in the Department successfully completed the Post Graduation Diploma in higher Education (PGDHE) course from IGNOU in June 2013
• Mrs. Madhuri Gunjal, Mrs. Benazeer Tamboli and Mrs. Kirti Namjoshi has completed their Pre Ph.D. Viva and have sumbitted their Final Thesis to Ph.D. Section for completion of further process.

1. TMV's department of Education has recently launched a Bi-annual journal entitled "TMV's Journal of Teacher Education", which is the first journal published by the vidyapeeth(ISSN-2319-8931)
2. Compilation of papers presented during the national conference on "Challenges to Contemporary Indian Higher Education was published in 2013(ISBN-978-81-92716-0-6)"
3. Second issue of "TMV's Journal of Teacher Education" is published with ISSN no. 22319-8931.
Innovation

1. Video recording of micro teaching sessions of teacher trainees for objective evaluation and for the development of competency and skills to make them effective teachers
2. The course adopts Co-operative Teaching -Learning strategy and constructivist approach and focuses on hands on application of these approaches. Concepts maps and mind mapping techniques help to plan teaching sessions.
