To compete in today's furious market, manufacturing
organizations must move product from concept to reality quicker
than ever. Dramatic improvements in time to market the product
require a refined collaborative approach towards automation
of existing facility. Knowledge of CAD-CAM-CAE is must for every
engineering graduate who has plans to work in the areas like
Automation, Software development, R&D, Product design and
Manufacturing. The trend in CAD-CAM-CAE sector is clearly indicating
that need of automation is ever growing and it will continue
to grow till the manufacturing activities are existing. Unlike
the short span activities, CAD-CAM-CAE is heading towards consistent
growth in terms of, business opportunities and applications
areas like product design and development, reverse engineering
etc.
Computer Aided Design (CAD):
CAD is the use of a range of computer-based tools that help
architects, engineers, and designers in design activities. CAD
is sometimes translated as computer assisted, or computer aided
drafting. All these terms are synonymous for CAD. CAD is used
to develop and design products, which can be used by consumers
or in other products.
CAD is also used in the design of machines and tools.
Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM):
CAM is highly utilized by different user in different ways,
for process planning and generating NC part programming.
Computer Aided Engineering (CAE):
CAE also referred as Finite Element Analysis. CAE is the main
sub process that constitutes the design process. The philosophy,
functionality, uniqueness of the product is determined during
the process of Analysis

| Future Prospects |
Experience has
shown that CAD/CAM/CAE Software speeds the Design process, therefore
increasing productivity, innovation and creativity of Designers.
CAD/CAM/CAE Software has provided the only means to meet the new technological
Design and Production requirements of increased accuracy and uniformity.
The need for the software in the future will be even greater due to
expected intricate Design and manufacturing requirements and the increasing
industrial competition.
